R.Sagitov met with the mayor of Tyumen

The Secretary General of the Eurasian section of UCLG Rasikh Sagitov had a meeting with the Head of municipality of Tyumen Dmitry V. Eremeev on August 2 in Tyumen. The issues of cooperation of Tyumen and the Eurasian section of the World Organization of “United Cities and Local Governments” were discussed at the meeting. In particular, R. Sagitov suggested that the city of Tyumen should participate in projects of UCLG and UN-Habitat in order to offer their projects to the attention of international organizations.

Tyumen is a part of the Ural Federal District, one of the largest cities of Siberia, the capital of one of the largest regions of Russia - Tyumen region. It shows an unprecedented rate of development in many respects. The population of the city is 630 thousand people. The city of Tyumen is one of the founding members of the Eurasian section of UCLG.

During the meeting in Tyumen the sides exchanged views on strengthening of the institutions of Russian democracy and civil society, protection of interests of local authorities in the country and internationally, increasing of investment and tourist attractiveness of the municipalities of the Eurasian part of Russia. R.Sagitov and D.Eremeev reached an agreement on further strengthening of cooperation of Tyumen with the Eurasian section of UCLG.
