Meeting with the Mayor of Izmir

Today, on September 9, the delegation of UCLG Eurasia has met with Mayor of Izmir Tunç Soyer.

The Mayor of Izmir highlighted close relations between the Eurasia and Middle East and West Asia sections of UCLG, as well as the significance of unity to address important issues.

Rasikh Sagitov, Secretary General of UCLG Eurasia, thanked the Mayor of Izmir for cooperation and participation in projects of the Eurasia Section, in particular in the Research on Cities’ International Activity, where Izmir won honorable second place.

Aybek Dzhunushaliev, Mayor of Bishkek, expressed gratitude for the invitation to Izmir and noted that he would be glad to develop joint projects and share experience with Izmir. "It is especially important to revive twin relations between our cities and bring them to a qualitatively new level", Aybek Dzhunushaliev addressed Tunç Soyer.

Vugar Iskandarov, Deputy of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan from the city of Shaki, stressed the high level of the UCLG Culture Forum being held these days.

The delegation also included representatives of the city of Shymkent and Kazan.

The parties expressed their willingness to fully cooperate and actively interact.

At the end of the meeting, the participants exchanged memorable gifts.
