On Wednesday, July 27, 2022, Mayor of Yekaterinburg Alexey Orlov held a working meeting with representatives of the South Korean company KT Corporation, who arrived in the capital of the Urals to expand their partnership. Head of the foreign delegation presented a number of investment projects.
Welcoming foreign guests, the Mayor emphasized that the economy of the Republic of Korea is characterized by a high level of technological development, has rich experience in the introduction of new production processes, including in the development of the urban environment.
“Yekaterinburg has a Korean sister city - Incheon and two partners - the cities of Pohang and Seongnam. We have many plans for the development and are interested in the experience of our foreign partners. Today Yekaterinburg also pays special attention to the implementation of projects in the sphere of improving the quality of urban infrastructure and transport services”, Alexey Orlov said.
Deputy Mayor of Yekaterinburg Marina Fadeeva and Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in the capital of the Urals Tsui Shaochun spoke at the celebration on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of twinning relations between Yekaterinburg and Guangzhou.
“For Yekaterinburg, this is not just a memorable date, but a whole history of efficient relationships and many implemented joint projects. It is especially interesting to note the interaction of cities in the field of education: Chinese students come here to study at the Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia Boris Yeltsin, and our students – get knowledge in Guangzhou.
Yekaterinburg and Guangzhou are two dynamically developing cities, which from year to year confirm their status of centers of international business and trade. Yekaterinburg is known to everyone as a venue for Russia’s main industrial exhibition "Innoprom", and Guangzhou annually hosts the largest trade exhibition of China “Canton Fair”. All this provides a basis for close cooperation. I congratulate Yekaterinburg and Guangzhou on the holiday”, Marina Fadeeva said.
General Consul of the People’s Republic of China in Yekaterinburg Tsui Shaochun in turn noted that the festive events dedicated to the anniversary of cooperation are held today in Guangzhou.
Yekaterinburg and Guangzhou have been sister cities since July 2002 and have strong cultural and economic ties.
As a sign of cooperation and good attitude the cities exchanged monuments: in 2012, a copy of the stele “Europe-Asia” was installed in Guangzhou, and in 2014, a monument “Flower of Guangzhou” appeared at the border of the parts of the world of the capital of the Urals.
