A World-Class Student Campus Is Being Formed in Yekaterinburg
On July 20, Mayor of Yekaterinburg Alexey Orlov visited the future Village of the International Summer Student Games 2023 located in the Novokoltsovsky District.
The event was also attended by consuls and representatives of consulates of 11 foreign states, representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia in Yekaterinburg Alexander Kharlov, Rector of the Ural Federal University named after the first Russian President Boris Yeltsin Victor Koksharov.
The first site to be visited was a public center where educational buildings of the Ural Federal University, a hall for 250 people for conferences and forums, as well as a nutrition department for 600 seats, will be located.
The Mayor of Yekaterinburg noted that the future space for living of young people is more than just a dormitory.
“This is a multifunctional space for the self-realization of young people and a completely new level of living. The most modern facilities for students will be created here. They will help to improve the quality of education. Therefore, it is very difficult to overestimate the importance of this project”, Alexey Orlov said.

Mayor of Yekaterinburg Alexey Orlov took part in the Conference “Cities of Russia 2045. Sketches of the Future” as part of the International Industrial Exhibition “Innoprom”.
The auditor of the Russia’s Accounts Chamber Natalya Trunova, Mayor of the city of Perm Alexey Demkin and First Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of Sverdlovsk Region Arkady Chernetsky took the floor during the event as well. The topic of the discussion was the development of Yekaterinburg and Perm in the long run.
“Yekaterinburg is systematically working on the creation of the Strategic Development Plan: when we make decisions, we always focus on what we want to achieve in the long term. If external conditions change, we adjust these plans - this is a permanent process, fixed by the General Plan of Development of Yekaterinburg up to 2045”, said the Mayor.
According to him, the Municipality focuses on several aspects: a European transport logistics hub, an industrial and innovative center with a developed economy and a comfortable city for active people. It is these goals that define the tasks that the city government sets for itself.
Alexey Orlov, answering the question about what is the most important factor in the implementation of long-term plans, emphasized the professionalism and dedication of those who take responsibility for the implementation of the intended plans.
