"Kazan - the capital of the Turkic World 2014" year was opened in Kazan

The Year of "Kazan - the capital of the Turkic world in 2014" was announced on April 26 in Gala concert at the State Theater of Opera and Ballet named after Musa Jalil. The ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Ildar Khalikov, Secretary General of the International Organization of Turkic culture Dusen Kaseinov, delegation of Eskisehir province headed by the governor, the chairman of the agency "Eskisehir - the cultural capital of the Turkic world" Güngör Azim Tuna.

The opening ceremony started with theatrical performance. Then flags of the representatives of member countries of the International Organization TURKSOI carried to the hall.

During the opening ceremonies of the "Kazan - the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2014", President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanovin indicated that the decision taken in 2010 in Istanbul on the annual declaration of one of the cities of member countries TURKSOI cultural capital of the Turkic world has laid an important tradition giving a new impetus in bringing the creative community to strengthen cultural links and promote the interest of the international community in joint cultural projects.

"Turkic world unites more than 40 nations and nationalities living in the vast Eurasian area, - stated the Prime Minister of Tatarstan. - For centuries, Kazan served and serves as a center of spiritual unity and consolidation of Turkic ethnic of multinational Russia. I am confident that our ancient but eternally young capital will enter another bright, full page of discoveries in the modern chronicle of Turkic culture"- summed Halikov.

Secretary General of the International Organization TURKSOI Dusen Kaseinov noted that the city of the vast Turkic world, ancient and modern can and should be the centers where heritage of the Turkic peoples preserved.

Large and bright holiday turned on stage of the theatre. Tatar songs and Tatar folk dances were widely presented. Actors of Kamal Theater looked on stage especially solemnly, each of one was made up and dressed in the style of a bygone era, and they read out a string about the Tatar people of famous Tatar poets and writers. So, there were Gayaz Iskhaki, Galimzyan Ibragimov, Dardemand and young Gabdulla Tukay on the scene. Audience greeted actors with thunderous applause.

Using the video chronicles the audience was reminded about the national domain of Kazan, Tatarstan. The names of famous writers, composers, scientists and artists were remembered, it was also mentioned the existing museums and theaters of republic.

National holiday Sabantuy was highly represented within the celebration. Riot of colors, the national colors and traditional ornament of every representative-country presented in everything: costumes, headdresses and video support.

Audience watched folk dances and songs of creative teams of Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Khakassia, Crimea, Turkmenistan, Tuva.
