Municipal practices of a number of UCLG-Eurasia’s member cities were recognized as the best at the international contest "A City Where You Want to Live". Projects from 30 cities participated in the contest. The jury evaluated real benefits of urban spaces for residents and their comfort.

Khabarovsk became the leader in the number of nominations. It was awarded diplomas in 21 categories. It is worth highlighting the project "We Are in Sports" among them, contributing to the involvement of minors prone to delinquency in sports.

Tiraspol won in several nominations related to the system of preschool education, in particular, for the development of basic competencies and professional retraining of teachers of preschool educational institutions, for the creation of conditions for self-realization and creativity of children with disabilities, etc.

The administration of Perm was awarded diplomas in 7 nominations. Thus, the Perm marathon, the organization of the music festival “Prichal”, the development of a design code for public spaces, and the Master plan for illuminating the city were marked as the best municipal practices.

Kazakhstan Aktau received the diploma for the implementation of the mobile application “Smart Caspiy” and improving the quality of life of citizens.

The list of awardees also includes: Arkhangelsk, Bishkek, Volgograd, Vologda, Voronezh, Dushanbe, Kazan, Kirov, Magadan, Moscow, Novosibirsk, Orenburg, Penza, Rostov-on-Don, Stavropol, Ulan-Ude, Ufa, Chelyabinsk and Yakutsk.

Note: the International Assembly of Capital and Major Cities of the CIS, member of UCLG-Eurasia, is the initiator of the contest. The project is implemented in cooperation with the CIS Executive Committee, the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), the State Duma Committee on Federal Structure and Local Self-Government, the All-Russian Council for Local Self-Government. It is aimed at identifying specific examples of addressing urban issues against the backdrop of assessing achievements from the perspective of what a municipality has actually achieved.
