Cultural Capital of Russia 2024

The finalists of federal contest “Cultural Capital of the Year” have been announced. Grozny, Kaliningrad, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Samara, Tomsk, Cheboksary and Chita are candidates for the title of the cultural capital of the Russian Federation next year.

The experts have evaluated the cities based on such factors as the level of development of archives and historical and cultural heritage, material and technical support, contribution to the spiritual and moral improvement of residents, the level of inclusive accessibility and others.

The winner will be determined in autumn. The city to be awarded the honorary title will present an extensive cultural and educational program all next year, and this will increase its tourist attractiveness.
