Sardana Avksentieva, Mayor of Yakutsk, took part in the panel session “From smart city to smart region” within the frameworks of the Far East forum “Smart city – comfortable environment for living”, which was held on November 27-28, 2019 in the capital city of Yakutia.
Mayor of Yakutsk presented the experience of applying modern technologies in the city on the examples of the city online portals “One click Yakutsk”, “Geoportal Yakutsk” and the project “Budget for Yakutsk citizens”. She emphasized the active introduction of digital economy and management tools.
‘The “Safe City” system began operating in Yakutsk in 2009. Today, the system integrates 120 video cameras throughout the city. Following the results, street crime decreased by 3.7% within ten months. This shows that video cameras help residents to be and feel safe,’ said Sardana Avksentieva.
Yakutsk is the only pilot city of the project on the digitalization of urban economy “Smart City” in the Far East Federal District. The project is conducted by the Ministry of Construction Industry, Housing and Utilities Sector of Russia.
