Nizhny Novgorod will bring together residents and government

The city needs fresh ideas. Not from the officials who work on an infinite number of programs and projects, but from citizens, the people who feel and see certain aspects of our lives differently.

At the initiative of the Head of Administration of Nizhny Novgorod Oleg Kondrashov a project under the name of “Big municipal government” started on December 19, 2011 in Nizhny Novgorod. The aim of the project is to involve the city residents in the management of the city of Nizhny Novgorod through ideas, recommendations and proposals in the field of the development and improvement of the regional center.

Any citizen regardless of age and social status can become a part of “Big municipal government”. To date, the administration of the city has received 78 proposals from the residents of Nizhny Novgorod. Most of them concern the modernization of housing and communal services and optimization of road infrastructure.

“We receive ideas from residents of Nizhny Novgorod through different communications channels, but the Internet is especially popular. This indicates the fact that a lot of young people have been involved in the project. I think that the combination of their proposals with the ideas of the older generation will give the best results", - said Oleg Kondrashov.

“Currently the proposals are examined by the administration officials but in the nearest future we are planning to bring the project to a new information level and to create a separate site for “Big municipal government” in the Internet”. The most interesting and significant letters of project participants will be posted on this website.

The most interesting proposals will be considered and accepted for implementation, and the authors of 400 best ideas will be able to personally meet Oleg Kondrashov before November 4, 2012.
