The 7th International Festival “Oymo 2012” started on July 24, 2012 in Bishkek. The festival is an important cultural and tourist event held on the annual basis.

The aim of the festival is support of craftsmanship, international tourism and folklore traditions, promotion of the Kyrgyz Republic as a regional area of ​​active inter-cultural dialogue, strengthening friendship and understanding between nations.

The format of the festival includes various types of programs: opening and closing ceremonies, craft fair, workshops, ecological campaigns, traditions and customs and Exhibition of Kyrgyz artists. More than 100 craftsmen from Central Asia, Turkey, India, Afghanistan, the Altai Mountains, and other regions will open an oriental bazaar. Silk fabrics of Margilan artists and their products, famous Rishtan ceramics of Uzbekistan and no less interesting pottery of Kyrgyz potters from Bishkek and Osh, variety of felt and silk products from Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, jewelry, traditional embroidery from Tajikistan and much more always cause genuine interest in customers and tourists.

“Oymo” promotes dialogue between cultures and establishment of trusting partnerships between the participating countries, development of tourism industry, craft and cultural market, helps improve the image of the country at the international level, and spread ideas of tolerance. In addition, “Oymo” is a positive stabilizing factor in the country and in the Central Asian region as a whole.
