Strategic Spatial Planning of the City Discussed in Grozny

The Municipality of Grozny discussed a preliminary master plan for the development of the city.

The working meeting was attended by Deputy Mayor of Grozny, Chief Architect of the city Alikhan Tokshaev, Head of the State Committee on Architecture and Urban Planning of the Chechen Republic Muslim Gairbekov. Guests from Kazan – Head of LLC “Seredina Volgi” Almaz Nasyrov and Head of the Territorial Planning Department of the Institute of Spatial Planning of the Republic of Tatarstan Eric Teregulov took part in the meeting as well.

It should be noted that the meeting was the result of the visit of Mayor of Grozny Khas-Magomed Kadyrov to the capital of Tatarstan with the main purpose to learn the experience of the governments of Kazan.

Deputy Mayor Timur Istamulov greeted the guests and noted that the issues of improvement of the city and its compliance with the latest trends in the field of architecture and urban development are under the special control of the Mayor of the capital.

During the meeting, experts delivered a presentation with provisional results of research conducted as part of the development of a master plan of the capital. They noted that a systematic approach would be applied to the organization of an urban space.

The local governments were pleased with the presentation, but stressed that it should be formed taking into account the specifics of the region, including the location of the Chechen capital. At the same time, the opinion of citizens of Grozny must be considered as well.

Summing up the meeting, the parties agreed on close cooperation.

A detailed discussion of the integrated city development strategy will take place at the next partners' meeting in August.
