Volgograd is for Peace in the Future

In the framework of the celebration of the 40^th anniversary of twinning between Volgograd and Hiroshima International Youth Conference for Peace in the Future will be held in Volgograd on August 17 – 23, 2012. This event will take place in Russia for the first time.

More than 30 young people from partner and twin cities of Volgograd in foreign countries and Russia will take part in the conference.

The constant organizer of this event is the International Youth Association of Hiroshima. Traditionally International Youth Conference for Peace in the Future is held either in Hiroshima or in one of its twin cities – the constant participant of the conference.

Volgograd has participated in International Youth Conference for Peace in the Future since 2005. According to the request of the city of Hiroshima administration of Volgograd agreed to become the city, organizing this event and hosting foreign participants in August 2012.

The main objectives of the conference are support of nuclear disarmament, promotion of the ideas of peace and peaceful coexistence among young people from different states and exchange of cultural experience.

The working language of the event is English.

During the International Youth Conference for Peace in the Future the participants will introduce their presentations “What do we do for peace”, prepare visiting cards of their native cities and present small performances reflecting the peculiarities of national culture. They will be given the opportunity to learn about the past and the present of Volgograd, take part in peaceful actions and memorial ceremonies.
