Mayor of Comrat Nikolay Dudoglo was awarded for achievements in the field of local government

On December 28, 2011 Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova presented the Mayor of Comrat Nikolay Dudoglo a medal for achievements in the field of local public government. He has become the only awarded representative of Gagauz autonomy. The event was organized in the republic for the first time.

23 mayors received awards as “Honored mayors”, 36 heads of settlements were presented medals for achievements in the field of local public government.

The purpose of this campaign is to establish a tradition to recognize and reward those of local public authorities who have devoted a considerable part of their lives working in local government and have achieved outstanding results in the implementation of government programs and socio-economic development of their settlements, said the director of the Congress of Local Authorities Viorel Furdui.

Laureate mayors were selected by the Governing Body KMVM before the local elections. The award "Honored Mayor" will be given to the mayors who have worked on four or more terms. Medal "For achievements in the field of local public administration" will be given to the mayors who have shown good results in their work and have at least 10 years of experience

An initiative of the establishment of local autonomy and local public administration employees` day will be put forward at the ceremony too. Supposed celebration day is February 1.

The event was attended by mayors, chairpersons of districts, local elected representatives, etc. The Republic of Moldova has about 900 mayors in total.
