Citizens of Moscow Invested in the Purchase of Electric Buses

Moscow is using an innovative method of attracting funding for ecological projects. In 2021, Moscow placed the exchange-traded green bond issue for 70 billion rubles. These funds were used for the purchase of electric buses and the construction of the Bolshaya Koltsevaya line. Bonds were issued for financial organizations, but individuals also showed a noticeable interest in them. Given that, the city decided to issue green bonds for the public.

The bonds were issued in the summer of 2023 and can be purchased by individuals. The bonds yield 8,5% and are paid quarterly. 100% of the bonds were bought in five weeks. The funds raised will be used to purchase approximately 50 electric buses. Replacing one diesel bus with the latest generation of electric buses reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 49 tons per year.

This project allows individuals to safely and profitably invest funds and at the same time invest in the improvement of urban ecology.
