Eurasia Cities and Global Trends

The long-awaited event, the training “Eurasia Cities and Global Trends” will be held on May 25-27, 2023. The event will be hosted by the headquarters of UCLG-Eurasia in Kazan, which is one of the leaders in the development of international relations in the Eurasia space and a key actor in the international municipal movement.

The training will be conducted by UCLG-Eurasia with the support of the Municipality of Kazan. We are planning to present global trends and opportunities for international cooperation in a today’s environment. You will learn how to develop decentralized cooperation and city diplomacy, get acquainted with the Sustainable Development Goals and other international agendas, take part in a business climate game and make a joint work plan. All participants are invited to present significant events in their territories in order to increase their visibility.

The event will take place in an interactive format with games, cases, exercises and discussions. We focus on networking and establishing links between cities.

Mayors and their deputies, representatives of local and regional governments and their associations, leadership and staffers of departments in charge of international relations are invited to the event. A dialogue among participants of different levels will enable efficient communication aimed at concrete actions for the sustainable development of cities.

Participation in the training is a great opportunity to get to know Kazan. The gastronomic, sports, third capital of Russia, the multicultural city with a thousand-year history, the information technology center, the leader in attracting tourists… The Municipality of Kazan is preparing a cultural program for guests. Participants will find out secrets of the Kazan Kremlin, plunge into the local culture and taste excellent Tatar cuisine.

The training culminates with a trip to the ancient city of Bolgar, the capital of Volga Bulgaria and the first capital of the Golden Horde. This city of UNESCO World Heritage on the banks of the Volga River attracts more than half a million tourists a year. A walk through the ancient ruins, the world’s largest Quran, the magnificent White Mosque will leave an unforgettable impression on your heart.
