Countries have committed to prepare voluntary national reviews at least twice by 2030 to measure the progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals. Reviews are presented during the UN High-level Political Forum held annually in New York.
As 65% of the Sustainable Development Goals cannot be achieved without local governments’ participation, municipalities also prepare voluntary local reviews of the SDGs. UCLG and UN-Habitat, as well as other organizations, have issued recommendations for preparing voluntary local reviews to facilitate the process.
