On December 8, Secretary-General of UCLG-Eurasia Rasikh Sagitov took part in the round table "The Ways of Great Achievements: from the Moscow Kingdom to the Great Russian Country" as part of the commemorative events dedicated to the 390th anniversary since Yakutia has become part of Russia, as well as the 100th anniversary of the Yakut Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.

The solemn event was held in Moscow with the participation of the Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), leaders and representatives of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, representatives of federal executive governments, public organizations and academia, Russian and foreign media.

The round table was moderated by the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) to the President of the Russian Federation – First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Andrey Fedotov.

During this round table, the participants discussed a number of issues – the role of the discovery and development of territories of the Arctic, Siberia, the Far East, the Pacific Coast and Russian America, the formation of the Russian statehood, the impact of scientific research on the development of northern and Arctic territories of Russia, the role of the peoples of Russia in the development of Russian territories.

Rasikh Sagitov in his report highlighted that the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) makes an important contribution to strengthening the positive image of the Russian Federation on the world stage, shows the diversity of cultures, the variety of the country's natural landscapes, promotes the recognition of the country by the world community:

"The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is purposefully working to preserve the unique historical and cultural heritage of all peoples living on its territory. Yakutia is clearly aware that these efforts will create conditions for the development of the tourism industry, contribute to the economic growth of the republic and the recognition at the international level of the distinctive culture of Yakutia", - Rasikh Sagitov said.


Summing up the event, the participants noted the need for interregional synergy for the organization and implementation of joint major historical and geographical projects aimed at studying, preserving and promoting the history of the common transport and infrastructure, economic and ethno-cultural space of Eurasia, the history of the Arctic, Siberia, the Far East, the Pacific Coast and Russian America, including by signing agreements on interaction and cooperation.
