The Support for Citizens with Disabilities in Moscow. Part 3

Поддержка горожан с ОВЗ в Москве. Часть 3

The capital’s employment service systematically develops approaches to the employment and development of the potential of people with disabilities. There are 36,000 people working in special quota positions for people with disabilities. Such projects as “Accessible Work”, “Top 500 CVs”, “An Opportunity Route for Participants of the Championship “Abilimpics” and the club “I Want to Work” have proven themselves in the employment programs. For the fifth year, the capital has opened a specialized employment center “My Career”, where job seekers with disabilities are helped to adapt to the labor market. Master classes, trainings, meetings with employers, and open selections are held here. Free vocational training is available for Moscow citizens with disabilities, 67 programs in total.

The Moscow movement “Abilimpics” is developing on the basis of the training center “Professional”. This is a social elevator for people with disabilities who are willing to become the best specialists in their field. The training is organized based on the capital’s colleges that provide all necessary equipment and sites. Each participant has a mentor who helps a contestant to make up for the lack of knowledge in the profession, leads him to the victory and supports him along the way. Thanks to the preparation and participation in the Abilimpics Championship, applicants with disabilities feel more confident and find jobs more easily. This year, 508 participants of the Abilimpics Championship went to work in the capital’s companies. This is twice as much as in the past. The most popular areas for the employment were information technology, education, services, hospitality industry and trade. Many Abilimpics participants chose to work in manufacturing. More than 200 capital companies are partners of the Championship. The employers themselves participate in the formation of competitive tasks, assess the skills of participants, and invite them to internships and jobs. The experience of participation in the Championship helps to find an idea for starting one’s own business.

The Moscow Small Business portal offers dozens of free useful services for starting and developing entrepreneurs with disabilities. In the Training section, one can choose a program of interest to improve entrepreneurial skills and personal qualities necessary for successful growth.

Individual entrepreneurs with disabilities, as well as companies that employ such employees or produce services and goods needed by people with disabilities, can obtain a special status of a social enterprise. It will give access to additional support measures and city projects. One can find out how to get it in a special Small Business of the Moscow project called Social Entrepreneurship: City Priority.

Companies and entrepreneurs with this status can get into the Showcase of Social Enterprises program. This is an additional tool for presentation and promotion. The Showcase presents more than 90 companies, including centers for working with the elderly and their relatives, family and children’s centers, publishing houses, production facilities and much more. A business box has also been prepared especially for social enterprises. It contains tools to help them develop their business: cloud 1C accounting software, a CRM with extensive functionality and clear customization, a cloud service for renting online cash registers, analytics of public social network communities and targeted advertising and much more.
