A Waste Paper Recycling Plant Starts Operating in Vologda

Several projects are being implemented in Vologda as part of the national project “Ecology”.

”Thanks to the national project “Ecology”, we have started reclamation of the city dump on the Mudrova Street, one of the most important environmental projects worth 988 million rubles. The garbage is collected into a single body of the dump, compacted, covered with a protective screen, and a treatment system for leachate and biogas collection is being made. The result will be a landfill of 15 hectares and no negative impact on the environment. The odor will disappear, the air and land will become cleaner, the development of adjacent territories will begin,” emphasized Sergey Voropanov, Mayor of Vologda.

Investments of the national project “Ecology” also aim to clean the Vologda river from bottom sediments and natural debris. This work is designed for two years.

The national project is complemented by the “EcoVologda” city strategy, which has been implemented since 2020. For example, the contribution to the city’s ecology is made by the systematized landscaping with the help of the “City Greening Map” special service. A particular emphasis is also placed on the use of environmentally friendly transportation, recyclable materials are collected as part of the festival “EcoPark” and the ecoquest ”Clean Games”.
