On August 19, in Abakan, Rasikh Sagitov, Secretary General of UCLG‑Eurasia, met with Albert Tupikin, Chairman of the City Council of Deputies. The parties discussed the prospects for cooperation, expanding professional dialogue with municipalities in other countries, and integrating the city into the international sustainable development agenda. Among the upcoming opportunities for collaboration are the Northern Sustainable Development Forum in Yakutsk, the International Municipal Forum in November in Moscow, and the UN Biodiversity Conference in Yerevan.
The parties visited the Abakan sports complex being one of the city’s key venues for physical education and sporting events. The sports infrastructure of the capital of Khakassia plays a significant role in shaping the urban environment and promoting a healthy lifestyle. This facility is an example of how municipal decisions in the field of sports become part of the comprehensive development of a territory and can be of interest for exchanging experience with other cities.
