On August 21, Naberezhnye Chelny celebrated its 400th anniversary. The festivities were attended by Rustam Minnikhanov, Rais [Head] of the Republic of Tatarstan, heads of ministries and municipalities of the region, representatives of partner regions, and guests from Minsk, Novorossiysk, Ulyanovsk, and Kazan.

The International Association "United Cities and Local Governments" was represented by Ilya Nozhechkin, Vice President of UCLG-Eurasia and Chairman of the Ulyanovsk City Council.

To mark the anniversary, Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a congratulatory message to Naberezhnye Chelny, noting that the city is rightfully considered one of Russia's key industrial centers.

The festive program combined cultural, sporting, and business events. Children's art groups, as well as renowned singers Salavat Fatkhetdinov and Sergey Lazarev, performed for citizens and visitors. An exhibition of KAMAZ trucks and Volga automobiles was held in the main square.

Of particular significance was the joint celebration of the 400th anniversary of Naberezhnye Chelny and the 50th anniversary of KAMAZ. For decades, this major city-forming enterprise has shaped the city's industrial landscape and is a key factor in its socio-economic development.

Guests of the celebrations visited the KAMAZ visitor center, where they learned about the company's history, legendary truck models, and modern production technologies. Industrial tourism is becoming a promising area for Naberezhnye Chelny, combining the city's history, industrial potential, and modern educational projects.

Investments in the Future: Technogorod [Technocity]

Naberezhnye Chelny pays special attention to the training of future specialists. The city is implementing the career guidance project “Technogorod” that introduces children and teenagers to modern engineering and technical professions.

As part of the project, the participants gain knowledge and practical skills in automotive design, vehicle engineering, and automotive modeling in virtual reality, learn how to 3D‑print components, program unmanned vehicles, and also engage in go‑karting and motorsport.

At the Technogorod facility, participants can apply the knowledge they have acquired in practice and test their own scientific and technical projects using the center’s motorsport infrastructure, including an all‑weather test track.

Particular attention is given to the “KAMAZ‑Master Junior” team. The young athletes, who already have sporting achievements, undergo in‑depth training, study the design and features of the vehicle, and get the opportunity to take their first steps towards a professional career in the legendary team as a pilot or co‑driver.

Another area of the center’s work is the “Mechanics School” for teenagers aged 14 to 18. Here, participants study the design of the kart, learn how to adjust it, work with technical tools, master safety rules, and obtain the qualification of a line judge.

Thus, the 400th anniversary of Naberezhnye Chelny became not only an occasion to turn to the city’s history but also an opportunity to demonstrate its modern industrial and educational potential. The combination of a well‑developed industrial base, the training of young specialists, and new forms of industrial tourism creates the foundation for the city’s further development and strengthens its role as one of Russia’s leading industrial centres.
